Product Details
The blossoms of Aquilegia canadensis, a native wildflower, are an exquisite combination of scarlet sepals and lemon yellow petals. Canada Columbine produces many nodding flowers from midspring to midsummer and captured the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit. (The flowers’ red color may lighten to pink in areas with warm nighttime temperatures.)
Lacy greens and dancing, late-spring blooms characterize Columbines. These lovely border plants make excellent cut flowers if picked when half open. Grow in full sun or partial shade (required in the South and in western Zones 9 and 10) and average garden soil. Propagation is by seed, so color, while quite reliable, cannot be guaranteed.
